Storage near TCU
A-1 & A-Thrifti Self Storage runs two properties in the 76110 ZIP, just east of the TCU campus — one on W. Pafford Street and one on 8th Avenue in Near Southside. Both are drive-up: you park at the door, unload out of the car, pull the door down and go. For a student move that is the difference between an afternoon and a whole weekend.
We are not a student-storage startup with a pickup app and a per-box price. We are two ordinary Fort Worth storage properties where you rent a unit, get a key, and keep whatever you want in it for as long as you need. For most students that works out cheaper, and it means your things stay in one place you can drive to.
Perfect for dorms and apartments
The two situations we see most often around TCU:
- Dorm move-out. A mini fridge, bedding, a fan, books, clothes, a small rug and eight or nine boxes. That is a 5×6 or a 5×10, and it usually costs less per month than a couple of meals out.
- Apartment changeover. A bed, a sofa, a desk, a dresser, kitchen boxes and the TV. That is a 5×15 or a 7×15 — and it is very often split between two roommates, which halves the cost.

Summer & semester
Summer and semester storage
The calendar around campus is predictable: everything empties in May and fills again in August, and the last two weeks of each are the busy ones. If you know you will need space in May, call in April. Units at the sizes students want are the first to go.
- Studying abroad? A 5×6 or 5×10 will usually hold a semester's worth of things.
- Graduating? Store between the lease ending and the job starting, then move it once.
- Going home for summer? Cheaper than paying rent on an empty apartment.

Moving between apartments?
Fort Worth leases rarely hand off cleanly. You are out on the 31st and in on the 3rd, or the new place is not ready, or you are downsizing and half the furniture has nowhere to go. A month or two of storage costs a fraction of what a moving company charges to hold your things, and you keep your own key.
Drive-up units matter here more than anywhere: on moving day, backing a truck to the door and unloading straight in saves hours. Both of our properties are drive-up, ground level, no elevators.

Splitting a unit with roommates
Plenty of students share one unit and split the rent — a 7×15 between two people works out to about $55 each per month. One thing to sort out first: the rental agreement is signed by one person, and that person is responsible for the unit. Decide who that is, and settle how you will handle access, before you sign.

TCU student storage questions
How far is your storage from TCU?
Both properties are in the 76110 ZIP just east of campus, off the Hemphill and 8th Avenue corridors. For most students it is a short drive rather than a cross-town trip.
What size unit does a TCU student usually need?
For one dorm room, a 5×6 or 5×10 is usually plenty. If you are clearing out an apartment or splitting a unit with a roommate, look at a 5×15 or 7×15.
Can I store just for the summer?
Call us with your dates and we will tell you what we can do. Lease-term specifics are set at the office, so it is worth a two-minute phone call before you pack.
Can roommates share one unit?
Plenty of students split a unit to cut the cost. The rental agreement is signed by the person on the account, so decide who that is before you come in.
