Fort Worth storage FAQs
The questions we get asked most. Where the honest answer is "call us," we have said that instead of guessing.
General questions
Where are your Fort Worth storage locations?
We run two properties in south Fort Worth, both in 76110. A-1 Self Storage is at 2620 W. Pafford St. and A-Thrifti Self Storage is at 2115 8th Ave. Both are a short drive from TCU, Near Southside and the Fort Worth Medical District.
How much does a storage unit cost?
Rates currently start at $65 a month. Pricing depends on the size and the location — every size we rent is listed with its monthly rate on our Units & Rates page, so you can see the number before you call.
What size storage unit do I need?
Our size finder walks you through it in about ten seconds, and the size guide shows what typically fits in each footprint. If you would rather just describe what you have, call the location nearest you and we will help you pick.
Are the units drive-up?
Most of what we rent is drive-up, ground-level space — you pull up to the door and unload. A small number of interior units are listed at the Pafford location. Each unit card on our rates page says which it is.
Do you have climate-controlled storage?
Our units are listed as non-climate-controlled. If you are storing something temperature-sensitive, call us first and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.
What are your office and gate hours?
Hours differ between the two properties. Call the location you are interested in and we will give you current office hours and access hours.
Can I rent a unit online?
Online move-in is being set up. In the meantime, call the location directly or send us a message and we will get you into a unit — usually the same day if we have your size.
Do I need my own lock, insurance or a deposit?
Lock, protection-plan and deposit requirements are set at the office. Call before you come out and we will tell you exactly what to bring and what the move-in cost will be.
What can I not store in a unit?
The rental agreement lists the specifics. As a rule, hazardous, flammable, perishable and illegal items are not allowed, and no one may live or work out of a unit. Ask the office if you are unsure about something.
Do you have units with electricity?
A few configurations at the Pafford location are listed in our system with electricity. Voltage, outlet type, permitted use and whether power is included in the rate are being confirmed — call and ask before you count on it.
Still not sure? Call the location nearest you and ask — you will get a person, not a phone tree.
Student storage near TCU
How far is your storage from TCU?
Both properties are in the 76110 ZIP just east of campus, off the Hemphill and 8th Avenue corridors. For most students it is a short drive rather than a cross-town trip.
What size unit does a TCU student usually need?
For one dorm room, a 5×6 or 5×10 is usually plenty. If you are clearing out an apartment or splitting a unit with a roommate, look at a 5×15 or 7×15.
Can I store just for the summer?
Call us with your dates and we will tell you what we can do. Lease-term specifics are set at the office, so it is worth a two-minute phone call before you pack.
Can roommates share one unit?
Plenty of students split a unit to cut the cost. The rental agreement is signed by the person on the account, so decide who that is before you come in.
Are you affiliated with TCU?
No. A-1 & A-Thrifti Self Storage is independently owned and operated and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Texas Christian University.

Business & contractor storage
What size unit works for business inventory?
It depends on how much you are holding and whether you need to walk in. A 5×15 handles shelved stock; a 7×15 or 10×15 gives you room to move around; 7×30, 13×20 and 10×30 spaces suit bulk inventory and equipment.
Can I run my business out of the unit?
No. Self-storage units are for storage. You are welcome to pick up and drop off stock, but units are not offices, workshops or retail space.
Can employees or drivers access the unit?
Access arrangements are handled at the office. Call and explain how your crew needs to get in and we will tell you what is possible at each property.
Can I receive deliveries at my unit?
Ask the office before you have anything shipped. Delivery handling is not something we can promise without talking it through first.
Still not sure? Call the location nearest you and ask — you will get a person, not a phone tree.
Question we have not answered?
Call either property, or send us a message and we will get back to you.
